Loving the Single Life!

Image
" You’re single because you’re single. It’s not because you texted too much or too little or waited 33 minutes to respond because he took 23. It’s not because you met up with your ex that night at 5 a.m. that no one knows about, or because you kissed another boy after a date with a loser. You’re not single because you spit food on that date or tripped coming out the the movie theatre. You’re not single because you hurt your first boyfriend really badly when you were 15 or because you have yet, to this day, to apologize. It’s not because you were secretly jealous when your friend got a boyfriend or that a guy you dated for two months now has a really cute girlfriend and looks really happy. And you’re happy for him. But still ill that he found someone before you. You’re not single because you slept with your ex boyfriend. You’re not single because half the world found out when you didn’t even want to remember it yourself. You’re not single because you think the guy your frien...

Beautifully Tragic

My family and I saw Wicked this past week. Absolutely Love it.  The music, cast, costumes, stage were all magical.  My favorite songs were "Defying Gravity"and "For Good" While I was at BYU I never really understood why so many people were OBSESSED with Wicked, now I know why. It's a top notch production with characters everyone can relate to. It's smart, funny, and has a Happy Ending.  Mom, Grandma, and me! I love this quote:  “As we exercise faith in Christ and trust in His promises, we can walk into the dark with the absolute assurance that our pathway will be illuminated—at least far enough to take the next step, and then the next step and the next step.” —Elder David A. Bednar, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles "Never take counsel from your fears" ~Stonewall Jackson via  http://www.lds.org/church/news/fear-not-i-am-with-thee?lang=eng “If clouds are blocking the sun, there will always be a silver lining that r...

Tender Mercies

Image
"The tender mercies of the Lord are real and . . . they do not occur randomly or merely by coincidence. Often, the Lord's timing of His tender mercies helps us to both discern and acknowledge them. ". . . The Lord's tender mercies are the very personal and individualized blessings, strength, protection, assurances, guidance, loving-kindnesses, consolation, support, and spiritual gifts which we receive from and because of and though the Lord Jesus Christ." ~ David A. Bednar Heavenly father loves us, and is always there for us. This week I have felt his arms around me through tender mercies, my family and my friends.  Package I received in the mail from Amy : ) KATE Spade bag from the best brother ever!

In life's storms..

"I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles"  - Audrey Hepburn "I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." - Marilyn Monroe "Why face life's burdens alone, Christ asks, or why face them with temporal support that will quickly falter? To the heavy laden it is Christ's yoke, it is the power and peace of standing side by side with a God that will provide the support, balance and the strength to meet our challenges and endure our tasks here in the hardpan field of mortality." -Howard W. Hunter "Many today feel troubled and distressed; m...

True Story

Image
Summer is over. Finding a new grad nursing position has been far from easy.  Fortunately I have been keeping busy with doing other things. I just have to have patience and trust in the lord.  Despite our trials I know that we can have joy. Below are things that have brought me joy these past couple of weeks. 1.        Starbucks: Iced Chai Tea Latte with soymilk ( caffeine-free, of course) 2.        Fresh cut flowers at the Farmer’s market 3.        Talking with old friends 4.        Driving with the windows down while the radio is blasting 5.        Ice cream 6.        Online shopping (well more browsing than actual buying) 7.        Blog-stalking college buddies ( guilty) 8.        Return of fall TV (Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl...

“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness ; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone .” "Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it's at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others.”

Fight for your life...

Image
"Life is an opportunity, benefit from it. Life is beauty, admire it. Life is bliss, taste it. Life is a dream, realize it. Life is a challenge, meet it. Life is a duty, complete it. Life is a game, play it. Life is a promise, fulfill it. Life is sorrow, overcome it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a struggle, accept it. Life is a tragedy, confront it. Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is luck, make it. Life is too precious, do not destroy it. Life is life, fight for it." - Mother Teresa

Growing up is hard to do....

Image
This past week has been interesting to say the least.... I've learned things that will last for a life time Lessons I've learned 1.  God loves me 2. Always do what you know is right and screw the consequences 3. I have some really awesome friends that put up with my frustrations 4. Silence is not always the right answer 5. People change, not always for the better, but you have to let them make their mistakes 6. I am not in control 7. I can do hard things 8. I can make new friends 9. Service makes you happy 10. Our decisions affect those around us whether we know it or not No one gets through life without a fair number of trials. Although we’d all love a trial-free life, in truth, it is through the trials that we experience our greatest growth and learn who we really are. They make the good times better, because  we know good times are not promised at all times. Thomas S. Monson   "At times some may think that no one cares--but someone always cares! Your Heavenl...

Final Analysis

Image
This quote from Mother Teresa has helped me get through the past couple of years. She was a wise woman.   People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway             I f you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.  Be kind anyway.             I f you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.  Succeed anyway.             I f you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.  Be honest and sincere anyway.             W hat you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.  Create anyway.            ...

The good old days....

Image
Lately, I've been wishing that I could be a kid again Free of major responsibility and not concerned much about the future Right now everything is up in the air.... I need to make decisions, but I didn't think it would be so hard or that I would be so torn about doing what I want to do and what others want me to do ultimately, it will be my decision...should I take a chance, or do what is expected?  Growing up is harder than I thought it would be... I know things will work out like they are supposed to Opportunities will come my way and things will work out  I'll figure things out

March On...

Image
It's amazing how time flies.... 52 days til Graduation!   I can't believe it's already March! Cap and gown have already been ordered! Hopefully spring comes soon! Things are still pretty busy, but manageable as always... My future is still uncertain, hopefully I'll  figure things out soonish xoxo, v "I must learn to love the fool in me--the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my fool." -- Theodore I. Rubin, MD

Love is in the air...

Image
February is here, which means Valentine's Day  Happy couples everywhere...oh joy! (note the sarcasm) Even though I've never had a Valentine I have always enjoyed the month of February it's fun to see people to go out of their way to plan elaborate activities for their loved ones.  One day it'll be my turn...hopefully that day will be sooner rather than later : )   Things will work out, in the end it will all be okay.  “The past is behind, learn from it. The future is ahead, prepare for it. The present is here, live it.” ~Thomas S. Monson “One day at a time--this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering.”

Little notes

Image
Dear winter:  why are you so long? I wish you were over already...you make this semester so hard to cope with. Please end soonish.  Dear BYU: 84 days until graduation!! I'm so excited. I still don't know what I'm going to do after graduation, hopefully I figure things out. Dear CICU: My 210 hours of clinical are going to be great. I love you already! Dear parentals: I love and miss you. I wish you didn't move to the Philippines. Dear Washington D.C.: I think I'm going to be seeing you soon... "Albert Schweitzer, the noted theologian and missionary physician, declared: 'I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve." ~ Thomas S. Monson "Gratitude is a mark of a noble soul and a refined character. We like to be around those who are grateful. They tend to brighten all around them. They make others feel better about themselve...

The storm will pass.....

Things have been a little rough lately This semester is going to be tough Graduation is fast approaching Decisions have to be made I don't know what to do I'm not sure what I should do with my life I can do it Things will work out, it'll be ok I will blossom where I'm planted "If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven played music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well."~ MLK, Jr.   Good Timber by Douglas Malloch The tree that never had to fight For sun and sky and air and light, But stood out in the open plain And always got its share of rain, Never became a forest king But lived and died a scrubby thing. The man who never had to toil To gain and farm his patch of soil, Who never had to win his share Of sun and sky and light ...
